Hi All!

It's been a year since opening the Charlotte Chess Center (I can't believe it!). We have come a long way, organizing quite a few larger events as well as monthly and weekly events. Part of the mission is to bring chess to a higher level in the region, by giving players more options and opportunity.

On behalf of the CCCSA I would like to announce the following event (I intend to run yearly):

Carolina's Junior Invitational

$1750 in Scholarship Money as well as over $500 in miscellaneous awards.

Top 6 students from North and South Carolina in grade categories: K-5, 6-8, 9-12.

When: May 1-3, 2015

Where: Charlotte Chess Center & Scholastic Academy

Format:
G/100; Inc 30; Round Robin
High School Section; FIDE + USCF Rated
Other Sections; USCF Rated

Round Times:
Friday May 1, 2015 = 7:30pm
Saturday May 2, 2015 = 11:00am - 5:00pm
Sunday May 3, 2015 = 10:00am - 3:30pm

Qualification:
We will use the live USCF rating as of the date April 15, 2015 for the top 6 in Each Section.

Must have played 10 tournament games in the past 6 months.

The top 10 players (currently) in each section will receive a letter of participation. Assuming that the top 6 players accept, players 7-10 will not be able to participate, however, ratings do fluctuate so be sure to send back your intent to play by April 01, 2015.

If player 6 does not want to play, then player 7 will play by default.

All Participants will Receive:
=> Event Polo Shirt
=> Event Hat
=> 3 Month Chess.com Diamond Membership

Prizes:
High School Section = $750.00 Scholarship, Event Plaque, 1 Year Chess.com Diamond Membership

Middle School Section = $500.00 Scholarship, Event Plaque, 1 Year Chess.com Diamond Membership

Elementary School Section = $500.00 Scholarship, Event Plaque, 1 Year Chess.com Diamond Membership

I am happy to announce this event, and hope that it encourages our students who work really hard at chess, to keep working and become the best they can be.

I understand this is getting close, but I wanted to do this before the school year ends.

All the best,
Peter Giannatos

I am grateful to those who offered partial support for the event:
